Has anyone bought from the refurbished section of the Apple Store before? Would you recommend it? Do the laptops they sell come with cosmetic defects at all? Thanks!

Apple's refurb Macs are really good condition. Many of the people who have them, said they wouldn't have known it was refurb until they were told it was :p.

Do they come in the original Apple boxes and packaging or just plain boxes?

I've got one. It was as good as new, except that when I took it apart the cables had been resoldered, and so one of them broke too easy, and I had to buy a new keyboard unit :(

... ok. That was my fault really. Buying new gets you that new Apple smell, but refurbished units are (besides packaging) just as good. My stepbrother bought a refurbed MBP. Gravy-cake, it was.

I don't think you ever told us the inside joke about why you call them iTods, Zaz :p.

Well, I suppose you've been good. Perhaps the humor in it isn't so easily appreciated here because everything here is so literal.

I was at work one day and was discussing Mp3 players with a coworker. We like to tease her a bit, calling her "The blondest broonete in the world" because she has a gift for doing and saying things are let's just say a bit unusual like sticking a fork in the microwave. I had just got my iTod and was saying wouldn't it be great if we could wear iPods at work. She turned around and looked at me with all sincerity and said "but I don't have an iTod." I burst laughing, cause it's the funniest I've heard in a while. Then I say I'm going to tell another coworker, who used to get on her case even more than I did. She's all like in slow-mo "Nooooooooooooooooo!". Ever since then I and everyone else has been calling Mp3/iPods iTods.

The funny thing is, I just picked up an iPhone. iThone just doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well. There you have it, the reason I call iPods iTods.

I recently bought one and it works just fine. No dead pixels and good screen, no damage to the outer casing, no weird sounds or problems. For me, it was $300 cheaper and I'm still getting the same thing. If you buy refurbished and if you think that your mb(p) is more prone to dying than others, then use your $300 saving to buy the extended warranty.

Haha, funny! Who knew blondes were a part of it  :D.

iPhone? Nice! Seems like so many people are getting it.

Yeah I'm just waiting on my Mac Mini to show up so I can crack it cause I use T-Mobile. I live nowhere mobile broadband is not an option so the edge thing isn't really important to me.

I been carrying a Mp3 and phone. It will be nice to only have to carry one around. Plus throw in WiFi and it seals the deal. I already got the phone. It has one stuck pixel. I may try to exchange it unless I can find a way to unstuck it if anyone has any ideas. I can't really do much with it 'til I crack it.
