The MacBook Pro is one of the lightest 15" notebooks available on the market today, being only 5.6 pounds.

There won't be 17" and 12" MBPs until later on - I'm guessing around the release of Merom, when the whole line will be updated. However, if you can wait until June, you might want to look at getting an Intel based iBook, which will have the same capabilities as the MPB.

If you can get Windows running on the MBP, yes, you will be able to do anything a Windows notebook would be able to do. However, there have been a GPU powerloss when compared to similar Windows counterparts.

When will these new ibooks be coming out? has apple pronounced a date yet?

Btw, whats the diff between a MBP, powerbook and an ibook?

MBP are currently the ones with intel processors right?

You must be a PC-holic ;) (trust me, I didn't have a clue about Macs either until I got an iMac).

Currently, the only Intel-based notebooks offered by Apple are the MacBook Pro. The Intel-based iBooks should be comming out sometime this June and should be able to dual-boot Mac and Windows. It also should be noted that iBooks in general have slower and not as powerful hardware as the MBP line or the PowerBook line. Apple's PowerBook line is it's older notebook line based of the G4 CPU - these notebooks are going to probably be put to rest sometime in the near future and will be replaced by the MBP line, so I recommend not to get one.

Yes, there will be a 13.3" iBook with an Intel CPU comming out this summer - I also think that Apple is transitioning its notebook lines to Widescreen rather than standard aspect ratio.
