    ...........and no updated MacBook's

I think that is pretty bad actually if Apple update the specs of the MB in early November the people who ordered now may miss out on an updated MB. They would have to update the MB's by next week at the latest.
I think that ThinkSecret were right on this rumour. They should have updated the MB's today.

The fact that Apple did not update the MB's today makes me think that they could well not be updating these MB's until next year.

If that's the case it makes me happy, I only got my MacBook about 3-4weeks ago!
I'm wondering if I can wangle a cheaper copy of Leopard due to it being such a recent purchase. Anyone had any experience in this?

Well, the update could happen next week too, because frankly I'd say it'd be rather awkward to release a Mac a week or two before the next version of OS X arrives. Its just going to cause confusion for those that are wondering if these new MacBooks already have Leopard, and then ask why they don't, and then have to fuss around with waiting for their free/discounted copy of Leopard to arrive, etc.

And then again, Apple could just skip Santa Rosa on the MacBook and update it with Penryn in early 2008.

The educational discount is only 10% (at least for the single-user one, I'm not sure how much the family pack is lowered). That's a bit disappointing to me, I thought it would be $79, that number seemed to have been thrown around a bunch on forums.

I agree with you Sam. I left out a word above i edited it in now to make things clearer.
I doubt that this will be the AL MacBook's that people have been expecting. I expect that the refresh would be quite minor if there is one. Maybe a upgrade to Santa Rosa and an upgrade to the graphics card. Apple may only though put faster processors in the MB and leave things as they are apart from this.
