I got this email too, but it doesn't mention any sales though, it just mentions longer opening hours. Am I missing something?

The only thing I noticed was free shipping via the online store. I didn't see anything about a discount anywhere in the email or on their site.

Not much to get excited about I guess.

I don't think we will know the differences in price until you show up at the store. I am hoping for a decent deal on headphones like last year. My cats decided to put holes through mine yesterday.

    The special event.

My question: WHAT is exactly special about this event? Shipping on online shopping is free? Gimme a break...

Guitar Center is allowing 20% off any one item that you buy - awesome.

Except Apple is of course exempt from the deal -_-.

Unless they do some count of discount on their computers, I doubt they will get any of their red into the black...

Meh. The only thing I can think of to buy, if on sale, is the ipod nano. And it has to be in the US. For some reason, and I really mean for SOME reason, the Canadian prices haven't adjusted despite the falling rate of the dollar. The nano costs $169CAD in Canada, and $149 in the US. $149USD =roughly $149CAD.

Leopard i'd love to buy, but my university already sells it for $99.

One of the arguments I have heard for this is that Apple (and any other company who has higher Canadian prices vs American prices) may have signed long-term deals years ago, when the Canadian dollar was much lower, and in order to keep a profit they can't change prices until the contract expires and they re-sign.

Not that I think its good though. I wish prices re-adjust to correct the inequality between Canadian and American prices.

You don't. You MOVE to Europe, then visit the US...
Alternatively, you could move to Baghdad in one of their finest neighborhoods. I hear they have some nice real estate near one of the squares they named after President Bush.

    Jokes :p

Ha! :) I am afraid if they really did name a square after President Bush property values would drop even lower in sunny Baghdad.

On a serious note, the falling US dollar is a real bummer. The Bush Administration must want us to stay home and spend money and not go to Europe or Canada or Australia to spend money.

My guess is they'll probably give $100 discount on Macbook/Macbook pro models, no more. But normally I get $100 discount anyway cos I'm a college student

If it's going to be $100 off, it won't apply to the student discount or the refurbished products, no? So, for example, we won't see a macbook at a student price MINUS $100, or a refurbished one with a refurbished price MINUS $100, no?

Pretty useless sale then. I wish Stevey would give some discounts like the rest. I mean, I'm not arguing they should do it the way DELL does, but Lenovo comes out with descent price cuts sometimes.

Isn't the student discount 10%? So you're already able to get at least $200 off.

Nope. Student Discount for Apple only counts for higher education students and educators. Unfortunately .

Dell always has coupons...that's a good thing. Apple rarely does any sales, but sometimes its resellers do. Like Future Shop in Canada, they occasionally drop MacBook and iPod prices for a while. Like $100 off MacBook, $20 off iPod Nano, etc.

I was able to pick up 2 pair of Shure SE210's for a little under 120. Cheaper than Amazon, plus I have them in hand instead of having to wait. All in all, while they clearly weren't giving away the farm, some of the deals were rather good, especially accessories.
