Apple's discounts are a joke. They are at such a pivotal time in their company right now. They spent millions with their pc vs. mac commercials. They developed a great operating system mated to great hardware and now that people are starting to consider macs... the price is through the roof. I just spent 2 weeks debating to sell my laptop and jump on board the mac ship but at the end of the day that price isn't worth it.

That's one thing the PC world understood. Profits later, let's get the world hooked on our software today. The world is heading into a recession, people everywhere are looking for deals - Apple sells mac book pros for $1800+?? My XPS from 12 months ago is more powerful than a MBP at that price, what are they thinking?

Yeah, we get it, Apple products are expensive. People aren't all about buying performance, with macs they are in it for the OS and sadly, the looks.

lol, the XPS build quality doesnt even come close to the MBP.
lets not start flaming plz.. if you can't afford it, dont try to put it down, the same way I don't say that rolex sucks because i can get a cheaper toy with the same functionality for 10 bucks.

I can confirm this since I bought my MBP (late 2008) to replace a Dell XPS m1710...no contest whatsoever in build quality, MPB hands down. This kind of goes in line with those that "insist" 2.8ghz processor isn't worth more $$...it is to me, and isn't that what matters?
