I love my Macbook. But I have only one gripe. It is that the computer has that high pitch squeal! More so when I have the power adapter plugged in. Also, mine seems to be a tad been noisy. My friend has the same model as I do, and hers is dead quiet.

I marked "yes but with regrets" not because I have regrets per se, but because "completely" felt too strong:

The laptop doesn't respond as quickly as I think it ought to with a gig of ram... maybe that's an OS thing, maybe an application thing. The keyboard's great generally, but it'd be better if the function keys were seperated so I could use them in the dark without hitting the wrong ones half the time. When it gets hot, the fan goes jet engine. I like the Windows touchpad acceleration model better than the one OS X has. I'd like an option to middle click URLs with Firefox or Opera, and OS X doesn't seem to believe in the "middle" click. Also, Finder/OSX has problems keeping my samba shares mounted and working. I don't know what that's about.

(edit) I like the feel of the laptop overall. It feels really solid, and nicely put together. I can't relate to Mr. Burns's post directly beneath this one. I've not seen a good Dell notebook, only one old cheap one, but this Macbook feels really good to me, build-quality wise -- a little better than my HEL80.

yes but with regrets, build quality is sup par for a notebook this expensive imo, my dell latitude had better fit and finish and i thought that was a POS when i had it. But overall, it's a good notebook, looks great, and the OS is very good.

I said "yes, completely," in regard to my MacBook. My only real quibbles, and they're pretty minor, relate to the keyboard. I actually don't have a beef with the feel of it, although it looks unconventional, but I wish they had included dedicated volume controls rather than sharing them with the function keys, and I wish there were dedicated PgUp/PgDn/Home/End/Ins/Del keys. I also wish the left-hand Apple key were at the far left corner of the keyboard. These are actually not insignificant issues IMO, but on the whole I love the machine, and since this is really my only complaint I still rate it "yes, completely."

Yeah, I love it. Even though mine needs to be replaced (one of these days...) I do have a few things I would like to see changed. The big ones would be dedicated page up/down home/end keys as others mentioned, plus a REAL delete key. The delete key on here is actually a backspace key.

Erm, most everythign else I love.

I voted yes, completely. I probably should say that I have a couple small complaints--the main one being that some programs open more slowly than it seems they should with 1gb of ram (especially firefox, word), but that's a relatively minor issue, since once they're open, this doesn't seem to slow the system down that much. That said, there are many, many positives. First and foremost, I find it rather amazing how fast I've become really comfortable with the OS. I've been a windows "power user" and a dabbler in linux for a while, but I expected there to be more of a learning curve than this. I can already work a lot faster on this machine than I can on my windows machine (Quicksilver is so, so awesome)--I feel like the interface is just an extension of my thinking in many respects, so using the machine is rather second nature already. I realize that comment is just about OSX really, so I should say that I'm quite happy with the hardware as well. In particular, I really love the battery life (I was running for over 5 hours this morning on the battery because I needed to reference an outline in OmniOutliner while teaching and working, and I didn' t have my adapter. Granted, I wasn't doing a lot of really intense tasks but, still, for light tasks it's awesome that I can operate on the battery for that long). I also really like the touchpad (especially the two finger scrolling). My only real complaint is that I really miss the trackpoint of the ThinkPad (I still use my old ThinkPad sometimes :) ), but I guess that's not much of a complaint against Apple, since no one other than IBM/Lenovo makes decent trackpoints as far as I can tell.

Overall, I'm really, really pleased. :)

I'd like a little more battery life from my macbook pro (it gets about 3hrs to 3.5hrs with normal use, music on, screen set to full brightness, and wireless on) but other than that, I'm completely satisfied, from customer service to delivery of the product to the actual product to the packaging.

All good things are a copy! Just take the ASUS W7! lovely pc version of the macbook.

I voted completely happy. Have so far, 'touch wood', not had any serious issues, and very few minor ones with my macbook. I feel more productive and enjoy using this laptop alot more than my old ASUS m2n...which was a good solid machine.

voted yes but with regrets... my right speaker died after a few days or maybe never worked at all. The grainy screen is also a disappointment. Besides those two issues I am completely satisfied with my mbp. It is by far the greatest notebook that I've owned so far. I just wish that the quality would be on par with the premium price.

The actual usage is great! I have 2g of memory so I have not encountered any kind of slow down.

You're getting better battery life than me. I can only get 3 or more hours with the screen turned down and wifi off. Then again, you can never have too much battery life. I'm really hoping that in a few years when I replace my mbp, some awesome new battery tech is available.

Regrets NO WAY.. reservations?.. it's mostly sticker shock. I took the plunge today and went by my local Apple Store. I picked up a "refreshed" MBP. It was $249 off normal retail, which was absorbed by state tax. I could have purchased online, but since this is a business tax right off.. It wouldn't have been right to avoid it by purchasing online. so is life. My ONLY problem, hardly a real drawback, - The bottom left and right corners are dark. I can take pictures, but it's pretty standard really. Right now I dont' care because the rest of the display is dead even! -far better than any laptop on display at Apple. (can I tell you I put them through their paces..and the 17" models were all horrible) This thing is running really cool. I'm very impressed. :D

Voted yes, completely. But do have a few minor quibbles. My MacBook is one of those with the staining problem ... I just haven't gotten around to sending it in, because it's not terrible.

My other complaint is in regards to the notebook they haven't made yet - still hoping for a 12" MacBook Pro :)

    I voted "No, I don't care".

A few things really annoyed me about my MacBook Pro.

    1. Excessive heat buildup. It gets way too hot imho.

    2. 2x faulty DVD-RW drives. In the end I bought a Pioneer, and installed it myself. Death to Panasonic, I say.

    3. The most annoying of all was the fact that my wrist area got zapped everytime it made contact with chasis.

In the end I gave it to my sister, and bought myself an LG S1. She loves it. I would have too if I'd gotten one for free. :D

I voted completely. The only issues I've ever had has been one time coming out of sleep, one hangup on an install, and some compatibility issues with certain web applications. Otherwise it's great.

I kind of wish I got a bigger hard drive...I didn't realize how much space these movies on imovie gobble up. 15GBs and counting for a 45minute movie.

I just switched from a pc to a mac book pro. I love it. I just wish it was a little easier to make the transition for all my other hardware (wireless router, printer, remote pc access) a little easier. I've done it, but it took research and trying a lot of things...

Love my Macbook Pro that I just bought, but a few nagging design moves that I don't like...

-No ports hidden on the back. You have this beautiful expensive notebook with it's beautiful and simple design, but you'll have usb cables, the power cable, and other stuff sticking out of the sides of this thing. My Dell notebook might not have looked as good, but it kept usb, power, internet cables out of site in the back of the unit.

-MBP screen angle. I'm a tall guy, and sitting with this on my couch with my legs down makes me view the screen from above a bit. I can't view it at the head on angle because the screen angle can't go further that I'd say 120 degrees or so. My dell screen could fold out all the way to a 180 degrees, which also meant I could place it nicely in a vertical stand. Not a chance here.

Also not as impressed with the way a Mac treats my digital camera. The only way to even access my photos is by importing them through iPhoto? Why can't I view my digital camera as a drive?

Beyond those annoyances that seem like they were aiming for style over functionality, I love my MBP. Light, beautiful keyboard that lights up when I need it, great OS, and just a feeling of quality. This is coming from someone who was a pure Windows users last week. From what I've seen, the Mac OS has a lot going for it, but I like some of the features and feel better in XP. MS did do some things right, and Apple could learn from them. But it's obvious in other areas that Vista will be trying to catch up for years to come. :)

I give my MBP an 8 out of 10. Good job Apple, but there are some no brainer design moves and OS holes that need to be better thought out.

Its a bit early for me to chime in on this, but so far I have had great satisfaction with my MBP.

I used to own an iPod, and have had good experiences with it. Unfortunately I began to find that I spend a bit too much on buying songs from the iTunes store and so have sought out a subscription service, from none other than Microsoft's Zune Marketplace.

The iTunes/iPod integration was superb, and so is the Zune marketplace and Zune player.

Maybe in two months time I'll vote on the poll...

Mostly satisfied. ;) I was surprised at the amount of smaller issues the MBP has in general.

    - Screen bending/warping
    - Keyboard/trackpad touching screen
    - Battery life
    - Bottom 1/3rd yellow screen issue

Fortunately, I only have a slight screen bending "issue" (most, if not all MBP's have it). I bought a ShaggyMac to prevent the keyboard/trackpad from touching the screen (hasn't yet, but just incase it does since the clearance is very small). Battery seems to be holding up well so far, and I don't seem to have the bottom 1/3rd yellow "tint" issue people were having (and I have the Samsung screen).

OS X has been rock solid. .Mac is just awesome (on the 60 day trial now), and I every time I look at the MBP it just makes me smile (it's that sexy). Haha ;)
