    First, read this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=305083

So I called Apple today, gave them my battery capacity and load cycles and some other information, and within 20 minutes, I hung up the phone knowing that I will have a new battery within 7 business days to replace my 17 month old (247 cycles) battery with 48% capacity! Awesome. I didn't even have to argue with them or raise my voice or repeat my points or anything. I just gave them the information they wanted, and voila!

I love Apple's technical support. Simply the best. Now if it was HP or Dell... (used to have HP ZT3000, which btw I loved).

    Hooray to Apple.

hmmm, I was going to go into the apple store to have this done, but maybe I'll just call apple. my battery is 14 months old, 111 cycles, and down to 24% capacity. I've tried calibrating multiple times to no avail.

Stories like this never cease to impress me. I keep hearing such great things from apple's support, that it makes me seriously consider going with apple this time.

so just an update on my situation... I go into the apple store, and 10 minutes walk out with a new battery. the guy admitted to me being out of warranty and not part of the battery recall, but decided to replace my battery anyways. apple CS is amazing.

One reason why I switched from lenovo to Apple was their customer support and warranty service. Lenovo gave me very hard time fixing stuff even under warranty. :(

I also had a battery that decided to fail on me, where the MBP would power off instantly when the power plug was removed. I took it to the Apple Genius the next day and they replaced the battery with a brand new one. The awesome thing was that they replaced it even though the warranty had expired in August.

+129 Rep points to the Apple customer satisfaction.

My friend bought an HP laptop at the same time i bought my MB (roughly 16 months ago) and she's having problems with her battery too (it only lasts for 15 minutes, far worse than mine which btw, the new battery arrived today). I'll post the conclusion of her talks with HP when she gives them a call sometime within the next 7 days just so we can compare HP to Apple.

I called apple about my battery once, they woudln't even talk to me without paying $49.99 because I was out of warranty. That sucked.

I made an appointment with Genius bar, it seemed they shouldn't have replaced the battery out of warranty according to them but I guess I convinced them to anyways. This out of warranty stuff is very YMMV.

No Kudos to HP. I tried to do the same thing for my friend's HP laptop. She bought her DV2000 series laptop around the same time as my laptop (a year and a half ago) and her battery lasts for only 10 minutes now (it's operating at a 16% battery capacity rate!!). So I called HP and they said they can't do anything, but they did tell me they can transfer me to HP Total Care and since the laptop's not under extended warranty, it'll cost $40 per issue!! Haha ridiculous. I'm going to post this on all the major computer forums I know with the title "comparing HP and Apple Customer Service", write HP a short letter explaining the situation and send them a link of all the threads I started, and tell them that whatever they answer me will be posted on the forums. Maaaaaybe (I doubt it) that'll get them to change their minds.
