    Hello,
I have a friend that has a fairly new Apple Powerbook and the latch (the bottom side of it) has broken and so it doesnt stay shut which affects the sleep mode going on and off. She has talked to Apple and they are talking about 600 dollars to fix that part saying they have to replace the whole bottom.

I am wondering how this can be done cheaper, or myself. I have fixed 2 PC laptops taking them apart down to nothing. But Im not familiar with the apples and am a bit nervous taking it all apart. Also obviously Id need the part for the latch. Any ideas relating to this is very welcome.

Hi did you ever solve this problem. The same thing has happened to mine. Apparently the part costs 39 pounds, to fit it is between 99 and 179 pounds!
