    Hi,
I recently tried to look through the Educational Store at Apple's site, and I clicked on the "I am a K-12 teacher, administrator, or staff member." option, even though I'm only a K-12 STUDENT (Junior, Grade 11). I found my school in the listing, and noticed that my school gets a $100 discount on the Macbook Pro (and discounts on other stuff, but the MBP is what I'm interested in).

If I decide to order, are they going to check my 'credentials' or ID or whatever and make sure I'm a teacher/administrator/staff member before/after I buy and not let me buy off the site/force me to return the MBP?

Or can I just order off the educational store without worry?

    Thanks.

You don't have to prove your credentials at the online store. they just take your word for it. Is honesty worth $100 to you?

Well if you exclude the whole lying about your identity and and violating the terms and conditions of the Apple Education Store...

But hey, who cares about honesty nowadays?

No, Apple reserves the right to check the credentials. They might even deliver your notebook, and ask afterwards.

I'm surprised why Apple doesn't check for an school email address ([email protected]) like all the other companies.

Well, I mean I could say that since the top option was for college STUDENTS, I just assumed the bottom option was for K-12 STUDENTS without reading carefully.

And I have a student ID along with a school email address, so if that's all they want to check, I'd be fine.

But you're not a staff member? How does that help you? Unless you're talking about the college discount option?

Oh, what I meant to say was if all they wanted to check was email, I'd be fine.

So, no real problems if I were to order off the educational store?

apple will send jobs and a couple of thugs to your house and demand restitution.

anyone remember the simpsons episode where homer is "bought out" by bill gates? that's pretty much what i envision will happen.
