So the UK apple site is now offering the refurbished ipod touch 8gb for £135 with free shipping http://store.apple.com/uk/product/FA623ZO/B I really want an ipod touch but i'm unsure whether to wait until the refresh or not. I need to get info on how long after it ships will it take to arrive?, what condition certified refurbished products are generally like?, What time of the day apple ships there ipods? Is it worth waiting for the new Ipod touchs?

    Thanks in advance , :)

I wouldn't recommend buying an iPod at this stage. They're rumored for a refresh this September.

But I can tell you a couple of things about Apple refurbished products.
Basically they're great. Some people might actually say they're better than off-the-shelf products, because each product has been individually taken care of by an Apple engineer. Refurbished products can range from "I don't like the screen color" kind of returned items to some more serious problems with the device, that have been taken care of.

It's not a new product, but there's nothing wrong with it. So that's how I look at Apple's refurbished line right now.

A friend of mine just bought a white Macbook refurbished at a ridiculous price. No problems what-so-ever. No scratches, no glitches. It's as if it's a new product.

    Hope this helps somewhat...

I would wait. If nothing more, the refresh is likely to bring a price cut and/or capacity boost to the Touch.

Right so I should wait because of the refresh is the general concensus..

Any additions to what you might think will come with the refresh?

    Redesign?
    Camera?
    External Speakers?
    Back to look like iphone?
    GPS?

    Any of these sound plausible?

Your guess is as good as anyone's. Apple is usually so hush-hush about this that you won't find out until it finally launches...

Right. Although, honestly, I would be surprised if they did any more than a price cut and/or capacity increase. Possibly change the back, but remember, the iPhone's was only changed to better reception. Maybe external speakers. I highly doubt GPS or a camera.

gps and camera is almost a definite no. change in design is a BIG maybe, i personally don't think it will happen. Like people have said what will likely happen is either a price drop or a capacity boost.

I'm just hoping they make the 32gb one their base model.

My guess is the 16 gig will become the basic. They usually double the capacity and keep the same pricing each year.

However for a little bit they may have the older 8 gig iPod Touch for 179 instead of 199. (refurb).

And Apple's refurbs are as good as new.
