I'm thinking about getting a custom paint job for my MBP, and upcoming Mac Mini from ColorWare PC ( www.colorwarepc.com). Does anyone have any experience with dealing with them?

Well Apple charges $200 for the "black paint" (plus a little more extra things), and they charge $450 (if you send in your Macbook).

Consider that they will paint it whatever colour you chose, as well as however many colours you want (within reason).

But yes, I agree - pretty pricing for paint. And if it breaks, and you need to replace it for you...

there is no way in hell i would pay almost $500 for my computer to be painted, i agree it looks awesome but is it really worth it?

if i were you and i really wanted a different color i would get a set of skins for your computer, much cheaper and as above if it breaks apple foot the bill :)

if there was a really high quality carbon fibre vinyl sticker set out there id be tempted to mod my MBP but i like it the way it is so im still unsure :|

You could build your own anodising setup for less than that... The second machine you colour would be only $6-20, depending on the colour and how intense you want it to be. It's a cool idea though.

The reason their price is so high is because of risk involved. They are liable for any damages to your laptop once it's in their door, so they want to have an insurance policy if you will.
