My MBP 15" battery cover is a little loose.
You can actually move it around by the lock area and it seems like this is not supposed to happen. My notebook ahs no physical damage nor do I abuse it.
Anyone else have this issue of an unsturdy battery cover?

I haven't encountered this issue with my MacBook Pro, and it was one of the first things that I checked when I took the computer out of the box when I physically inspected it.

Now, from what has been said on various internet forums, this may have to do with the tabs for the battery cover. Some have reported that bending them a certain way can correct this, although that's not an avenue that I'd recommend myself and certainly wouldn't feel comfortable doing with a brand new computer, especially one like the MacBook Pro. If you are truly concerned, you could try contacting AppleCare to see what they suggest.

When I first got my new MBP, there was a serial no mix-up. The box said it was the 2.53 version, and inside there was the 2.4 version.

I took it back and they replaced it for me. The 2.4 version in the faulty box had the exact issue you're describing. The 2.5 they gave me after that does not.

Take it back if it bothers you much. I'm sure they'll replace it for you.

After everything I had read about loose battery covers I did the same thing. I have a CTO 2.4 MBP and a loose 'anything' was never an issue for me. If you are able, take it to an apple store and from what I understand, they will be happy to help you rectify this....

Apple is reported to be working on an imminent patch to solve this problem in the new MB/MBPs.

I have a CTO so I highly doubt my store will replace it.
I also have an issue where one time when I changed video cards (from integrated to discrete), it hung before it witched into the desktop again for a long time, and the cursor was movable. I had to turn it off and turn it back on now I see the bash text upon boot of OSX.
I hope the apple store will fix this and the sleep light issue. How long does this take?

I think your best bet is to just contact Apple. They'll have more accurate information than the people on this forum will. The fix times vary and they'll usually give you an estimate.

Remove the cover. Turn the cover over and you'll see a few little metal tabs that hook onto the front lip of the palm rest. Place the cover on a table with the tabs facing away from you. Use your tumb to gently bend the tabs further away from you. You don't need to bend them much just a little. Once you have bent all of the tabs reinstall the cover and check for slop. You might need to tweak them a couple of times to get the fit right. If you still have a large gap in-between the battery cover and the bottom cover then you'll need to loosen the 8 screws that attach the bottom cover and slide it towards the battery cover. It won't move much but it will take up some of the slack.
