This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    - no firewire
    - no expresscard
    - mini-display port only (say goodbye to previously purchased dongles)
    - still 2 USB ports
    - still heavier than the average 13.3"
    - no blu-ray option
    - all glass reflective screen
    - high starting price

    It's not hard to find reasons to avoid this one entirely

    the old macbook had a 55 wh battery, so it was heavier, partly b/c of a better battery. now the new one has a 50 wh battery, which i'm guessing is smaller and weighs less. Regardless, I think the design is cool, but the practicality (function), is once again, secondary to form with apple. And it's expensive.

    Anyone know how long it will take to get to Best Buy? I've got a $500 gift card and would like to spend it on a new MacBook. They aren't up on the site yet and when I went to the store it wasn't there; I thought they shipped yesterday and arrived today!

    Would have bought one from the store if they had display models for us to look at. Went to one Apple store, and called two others that were nearby, none had any display models. They had it in stock if a customer wants to purchase, but not for us to look at. :(

    It would have been for the wife, as I have a now last gen MBP. (I'm quite happy with mine) She's debating between the MB Air and MB... which I've told her the different pro/con of both. So up to her now which one she decides on.
