I have for the longest time directed all of my spam, newsletters, etc. to the hotmail account I've had for the past decade. Well... did you know you can configure OS X Mail to manage your hotmail email?

All you need is a Mail plugin called httpmail. Download it, install it, open up Mail.app and you now have the option of setting up httpmail accounts.

FYI... the server setting for hotmail: my.hotmail.com

Props to FidyYuan who I noticed originally posted this info back in June.

Yeaps, this has been discussed before, but still cool, yes.

Although personally I've switched over to GMail :p. I was on Hotmail for years, but I've decided to switch.

I switched to gmail when it came out, back when hotmail had the a$$tastic/paltry 2mb per account (vomit). I've never looked back. I also have a yahoo messenger account, but that was really cause one of my ex's only used yahoo for instant messaging, so she made me an account. Too bad you can't use yahoo with mail.app, unless you pay for yahoo plus of course, which I won't, considering I am about to fork over $99 for .mac which includes "free" imap mail.

Doesn't Gmail support POP3 mail free? Anways, my ISP provides an email address which works with Mail, so i don't have to pay $100 a year for .mac. :)

Yes, GMail supports POP3 for free. That's what I use.

Until MS gets rid of all the photo ads, I will continue using gmail. Note: Hotmail now has unlimited space (like aol mail), and now gmail mail counter is running faster than it did before msn announced unilimited space..gmail counter on my acccount is sitting at 4337MB..

oh, 00fez just posted that gmail has added IMAP support, schweet!
