    Greetings

More of my friends are going to upgrade to macs and i am usually the one to give advice on what and when they should buy >< Usually referring to http://guides.macrumors.com/Buyer's_Guide_(time-ordered) it says that pretty much everything updates soon...

Anyone heard more specific rumors? Like when can we expect a new air or mbp13. Soonish?

Supposedly Ivy Bridge will start being available in April, so any time from then on Apple could start using them, and of course TECHNICALLY they could use a better GPU now, though probably won't.

AMD updates their A series CPUs supposedly in April or around then too.

They didn't get Sandy Bridge first, they got it a month or two late, but it was a moot point as there was a chipset bug that got a bunch of Sandy Bridge stuff recalled anyway.

Hard to say when they'll get it. My guess would be April-June, and my guess is the GPU will stay basically the same, other than possibly having a new number for basically the same hardware.

    i see. thanks for insight.
As for gpu i am not sure if there was ever a huge step forward for 13 books. 320m isnt that much worse then 3000 isnt it?
Dont think we ll see something good there at any point.

GPUs they took a step backwards when they switched to Intel's garbage video.

Yeah, if you're looking at the 13" model or the Airs, I'd expect them to just be using Ivy Bridge's video, unfortunately. It's 1/3 better than Sandy Bridge's, I guess, but...

The 320m is better. It's a mess. If I were a betting man, I would say longer than 3 months. After April 8.

I don't understand what the need is to put in discrete graphics if they are barely better than integrated anyways? Ex. any graphics that is about equivalent to a 310 or 320m. Totally pointless.

All I want is a quality 13 or 14" screen with a great graphics card, and no optical drive. IS that so hard?

the 320m is an integrated graphics card... I'm confused? Do you mean in Apple laptops or in general? Apple laptops with dedicated graphics are much better than their integrated offerings.

Yeah, April at the earliest. If you can hold out, you'll probably get faster clock speeds at the same price point. My guess is same basic GPU, but maybe slightly faster too.

You can get something used (previous generation) to hold you over and resell without much loss over the course of a few months.
