Hi again,
So yesterday I booted up my new MBP 15" and was dismayed to find that there is a single vertical line of off-color pixels right near the center of the screen. I'm fairly certain this is a hardware failure that needs to be repaired/replaced but since the machine is still perfectly functional (and within warranty service) I thought I might do some diagnostics before sending it away. Since the machine has 2 display adapters, I'd like to determine if it's one of these that's defective or the screen. Is there any graphics intensive benchmark/test I can run that would make the system use the nVidia card instead of the onboard intel chip? Isn't there a way to set it in System Preferences also?
On a related note, is there a way to send the computer directly back to Apple without taking it into a store?

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
If you can connect it to an external monitor, the presence/absence of the line will tell you if it's the gpu or lcd/inverter, respectively. Doesn't matter which gpu has failed - both are soldered to the motherboard so it would have to be replaced.
Call Apple. They can review the mailing options for warranty service if you'd prefer or are unable to physically take it into a store.
Any good graphics benchmarking apps for OSX?
