Is there any freewhere Mac program that helps you look through your Mac for things that you might want to delete that could be slowing it down? Bits of programs you installed, things you've downloaded etc. ?

Also, I thought that Macs don't keep a registry of websites you've been to? But they show up in spotlight searches, is there any way to get rid of the files so my computer doesn't keep them?

I remember seeing a video where someone showed you all of the places to look to delete things once you delete a program. I've got an app to do that, but what about the programs I deleted in the past, can anyone tell me how to delete any things that might be left over?
