Hi guys,
As some of you know, I have an aluminum Macbook with the 2.4GHz. I've had some pitting where my wrist goes right on the seam, looks like tiny spots. When I rub my fingernail over the dots I can feel that it's like a small cavity. I'm guessing this is from the natural sweat (not much for me) on my palms/wrist? Is there anything I can do about this, or anything Apple can do either? Thanks in advance,
-Colton

I myself like putting on Macpads from Macstyles, which works as protection... there are other brands of palmrest protectors too.
even without I've never actually had anything like that happen though, but everyones body chemistry is a bit different, so it could only affect certain people. -
pictures, please?

You can call Apple I'm not sure what they would do. That's just they way it is, you could get a gard to stop it from happening more.

Simonize it, just a little bit of car polish rub on wipe off done and protected for a few months. Repeat as needed.

+1 for a VERY fine car polish.
Also ***not responsible for any further damage*** -
Thanks for the info guys, I'll get some pics up later.

My macbook (late 2008, aluminum) has that too, exactly as you describe. It doesn't bother me, and you don't really notice it unless you rub your palm against it.

when you guys say "right on the seam", what seam are you talking about?

Hm, just curious - do the new 2010 mbp 13" carry the same pitting problem?

It certainly is not a big enough issue for me to worry about...and not one beg enough to dissuade me from buying an other aluminum MBP. -
Thanks for the responses! -
hum.. you must have eat a very high salt diet... since the pitting is the result of the salt/electrolyte in your sweat reacting with the aluminium.
Next time get a bit of WD-40, and give it a good rub down, this should remove the pitting and give the surface a bit more resistance to chloride induced corrosion.
