    Hey guys.

After MUCH MUCH MUCH scanning of the Internet, I think I've settled on a Macbook.

The Aluminium one, before it was made into a Pro. I can buy it new on Amazon for cheaper than the Macbook pro.

Now.. Is it just me.. Or in the process of turning the Macbook into a Macbook pro, they shrunk the Processor Ghz and the Hard drive, and boosted the price?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-MacBo...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1248612693&sr=8-4

    Thats what I'm getting.

Here is what it was turned into: http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/shop_mac/family/macbook_pro?mco=MTE4NDY

    The £899 one.

Do people think the 2.4ghz one will be fine for WoW and general use? I've seen videos on YouTube and WoW seems to run perfectly on it.

Oh.. Well it's still cheaper and better.

Also, when i have the money, i'll upgrade the RAM to 4Gb.

the processsor is more than enough for gaming. it is 2.4Ghz core2duo!

the limiting factor of gaming in the macbook is the Graphic Card (9400M), however, because of the macbook's relatively low resolution (1200x800) i think you can get away with playing it at good setting (if not max) at native resolution.

As noted, WoW is not going to be a problem at all! And the 13-inch MacBook Pro is a "better value" than the 13-inch aluminum MacBook; you're getting a better deal, not worse!

How is it a better deal? I only see disadvantages and a higher price..

they didn't bump the price, they lowered it... but they lowered it more on macbook! And don't forget that you get better screen with mbp+much longer battery! Also, I thought you were going to use educational discount to get better prices+iPod!

Yes, i am now. I'm gonna try and get the RAM upgraded to 4gb by apple so it's delivered that way.

So.. I'm gonna buy the Macbook Pro 2.26Ghz, hopefully with the 4GB ram upgrade, not definite though. And I'm still a bit confused by the iPod thing.. How do i actually get it?

Well...I guess don't worry about the macbook pro right now then. By the time you buy it, the entire line will probably be refreshed by then.

Lucky for you if you actually wait that long, the new mbp will probably have the new mobile nehalem processors by then. But there won't be an educational discount.

you can get an edu discount any day of the year...

but make sure its the best deal. I spent less money on a sale on my last MBP not buying it from Apple, I got it even cheaper than their edu discount.

    I'm pretty sure it is..

£840 for the Macbook 2.26Ghz also with the 4GB upgraded RAM. Which is pretty good because it costs less than buying the Macbook and the RAM seperately.

Yes for the same price. Apple usually updates their line and keeps the same price.

And I stand corrected. You can get the edu discount anytime, what I meant to say is that the IPOD wont be there.
