Does Apple ever have Black Friday sales?

If not, what if I go to, say, Best Buy or an authorized reseller? Will they be able to offer discounts on the new Macbook?

And would this sale, if it took place, offer better prices than an employee discount? (Friend of mine works at Apple HQ in Cupertino).

The only Apple sales are for students in Summer, and occasionally clearance stuff. Thats it, other than that theres no sales whatsoever.

Apple has a one day 12 hr sale every year on Black Friday. Most Macs and several accessories are all discounted. This is the ONLY day of the year you will ever see Apple discount anything.

I had no idea they ever went on sale outside of educational/clearance discounts. If live.com is still giving cashback, then that's the best option.

The Apple Black Friday sale is only online and never at the retail stores. It's been going on for the past 8 years since I can remember. I'm sure it's been long before then. Just Google it, you'll see bloggers talking about the price discounts.

The only discounts I have ever heard from Apple are discounts on accessories, refurbished macs, and normals student discounts.

Hmm... and anyone have any idea about how much the employee discount is on the new Macbooks? My friend seems to have her cell phone off, but I'll try again tomorrow.

I would have to concur with what others have said: Apple does have a short term BF sae every year, in my expierience they knocked off about $100 off their notebooks, I don't remember if it stacks with student discount. At that price after tax however you're probably still better off going online w/ an amazon rebate.

Actually the best way to get a MacBook right now is to Ebay for one.

    1) No tax
    2) $200 off, given by Microsoft lol

I paid $1080 shipping included for the new MacBook.

Yes, Apple has Black Friday sales. Unfortunately, they're not amazingly great prices, I think last year the iPod Nano was about $6 cheaper :p? I can't remember.

But third party accessories, definitely. I've seen $50, $70 off!

To my knowledge from last year, I was able to use my student discount AND the BF discount on the same item.

Apple is not in the business of selling discounted products, it's not their DNA.

Yes Microsoft live cashback is at 25% right now (used to be 35% at one point, and 30% most recently). The cashback is capped at $200 though. However you have to wait 60 days before seeing your cashback. You can also combine a 10% paypal coupon from ebay, which takes off another $100 immediately. I ended paying $999 for a brand new Macbook with free shipping and no tax.

I got Office for Mac 2004 last year for $24.99 after $100 mail in rebate on Black Friday. That also allowed me to get the upgrade to Office for Mac 2008 really cheap as well

The best deal was during July, when I got 10% ebay coupon and 30% off Live Cashback (the max was $250 at the time) now it's $200 max.

I got a total of over $400+ off my Macbook Pro
