Yup, rEFIt was initially conceived as a linux bootloader for EFI based machines, primarily Macs. You still need the BIOS emulation code and drivers from Bootcamp last time I checked though.

Still, if you want to run linux or even triple boot (da powa!) your Mac then rEFIt is awesome.

And if somehow Bootcamp bootloader expires when Leopard is out... that might be the only way to go...

Only if you're not willing to pay for Boot Camp. And we still don't know if it might even be included in Leopard, in which case it'd certainly feel more worth it than just buying Boot Camp.

But yeah, if you don't want to pay, rEFIt could be an interesting alternative :)

It will expire. If you choose not to upgrade to Leopard, Apple will be selling Boot Camp individually to Tiger users. I believe it will cost in the neighborhood of $30.

Apple has already stated it will be included in Leopard.

They have? Ok, I thought I saw that somewhere but I thought it was one of the rumor sites. It's hard to tell truth from rumor sometimes regarding Apple products ;) Thanks for the correction.
