I just learned that the Macpro or other computer on which the Airport Utility is located must be booted up in order for the wireless server to work. I Just wanted to pass this on to those who have more than one computer in their network and who work different hours than the administrator.
-
Which wireless server are you referring to??
-
Any ISP server.
-
Try explaining this again because I really have no idea what it is you're referring to.
-
yeah totally doesn't make any sense
-
what? are you trying to say that you must have the Airport extreme connected to a computer for it to maintain an internet connection?
or are. . . what are you trying to say?
because the former is definitely not the case. -
Circa86 has it right. Forgive my bad explanation. What I learned is that I had to have the computer which was the administrator booted up in order for any other computer to access the internet.
-
Then you're doing something wrong.
I've got an AEBS at home and if neither of my Macs are on (which I "administer" the AEBS from) the rest of my computers chug along without any problems. -
This is incorrect. Something is wrong here, but not what you blame. Please elaborate and maybe we can find the issue?
-
that is definitely not the case. the router does not ever need to be tied specifically to any computer, and can be admined by multiple computers, PCs, Macs, no problem, just like any other router.
