Just set up my new AEBS. I didnt think it would be hot to the touch - my old Netgear Rangemax wasnt?!
Is this normal? - not the power supply unit - the actual router itself, feels hot to the touch on the top - near the Apple logo....

It otherwise works beautifully, and Im loving sharing my external USB drive over the network!

yes they run quite hot, this is a fairly well documented issue but has yet to be solved without drastic actions. keep your base station in as cool and as ventilated as you can.

At least it isn't on your lap!

You'll be able to use it as a space heater in the winter, much like the early Xbox 360s.

It runs in the family. I've yet to see anything but the liquid cooled G5 Powermac's that run "cool" to the touch..lol
