I'd really like to have an Air with a slightly larger hard drive option. 120 gig would be great, but with only an 80 gig, I just don't think it will accommodate my travel needs because I need to run WindowsXP via Parallels. I need at least a 40 gig XP virtual machine.

Anyone think Apple will increase it anytime soon?

No, it was just released. Wait like 6 months, then maybe.

The hard drive in the 'Air is similar to those used in iPods and is not considered one of the more reliable hard drive options. An 'Air with SSD seems to be a better way to go to some while others don't mind the risk. 40 gig seems like a lot for the XP machine. Isn't there a way to share drive space between the 2? I thought one of the vendors (VMware or Parallels) was bragging about that.

I opted to leave Windows behind altogether so my Macbook has all it's space devoted to OSX. I cried over Paint shop pro, but Gimp filled that void. There's still a few programs I do miss but I can't bring myself to put XP on my mac. At least not now.

You might be able to pry the thing apart and swap the drive for a larger one but why would you want to void your warranty like that? Meanwhile, Apple is likely to do something to help sales but you have a while to wait.

I'd like to leave Windows behind but I'm a desktop software developer for Windows so that won't happen anytime soon.

I know Toshiba announced a 120 gig hard drive in the 1.5 inch size that is incorporated in the MBA and I was hoping that Apple would make this change as soon as the stock was available. I can wait for a few months but then it's vacation time and I don't want to take my MBP on vacation. Won't fit in the in-room safes.

I can always hope for a quick update.
