Just curious if any of you play this game on OS X? I'm thinking about picking it up but not sure if I should buy the Mac or PC version (running BootCamp with Windows XP). Just trying to figure out which one benchmarks higher. ;)

Its an awesome game, I play it on my PC a lot ;).

I would say get the PC version. Mac OS X uses OpenGL, and it doesn't use OpenGL that well. DirectX on Windows is much better. So play it in Windows via Boot Camp.

The upcoming The Asian Dynasties expansion looks awesome :D.

I just downloaded the AoE III demo for OS X. Seems to run smooth on max settings at 1440x900. I'm gonna have to give the Windows demo a run. I'm pretty sure most Windows games will run a lot better since the OS X versions are always ported over.

I hate booting into Windows. ;P Fun game though and I'm looking forward to that expansion.

I actually much prefer the time period of AoE II, but I just wish it looked as good as AoE III, hehe. Are there any other, fairly new, RTS games out there that cover the same/similar time period as AoE II?

I don't believe so, Eluzion. Yeah, AOE3's graphics are awesome. But same wit Eugenics, I'll be all over SCII.

I had it a while back for my macbook. Played it with max settings @ 1280x800. It always ran smooth. I think you will be ok with either version, just get one for whatever OS you spend the most time in.

One thing you may want to consider is that the MacOS version of AoE III is not multiplayer compatible with the PC version.

I found out because I wanted to join my friends (who own PCs) with my MacBook Pro.

This info is not in the box, it should be.

Rise of Nations covers enough of history to overlap AOE II's timeline if you want, although it's a slightly different gamestyle (still rts though).

Empire Earth II also has epochs covering that time period as well.
