I finally installed Adium and it works great, but it wanted Growl installed as well. I installed it and growl is always running now. It is using RAM but I have yet to figure out what it does yet.

What does Growl do? It lists options for Skype as well. I don't want it messing with skype really. If it isn't doing anything useful ever how do I uninstall growl?

It will notify you in a window of events. For instance display a incoming msg and or mail.

Go to growls website and check out the different applications it works with.

Those notices that appear at the top right hand corner of your screen (unless you changed that setting) is Growl. It's very nice.

Go to Adium menu->Prefs->Events-> and choose the events that will use Growl notifications. I for one use it only to display new conversations.

mine makes a noise like tokyo train station; it's so soothing compared to the moronic msn and skype sounds
