Ok I posted in help section and think I finally convinced myself into getting a new mbp. My old notebook was stolen from my car with the bag and all the goodies in it. I had a dell lattitude with a kenneth cole reaction leather messenger bag which I liked but I no longer have. I was allowed by the insurance 2k for my laptop and 200 for my bag. It will be a new 15" mbp but I want to order a nice bag and sleeve at the same time so I can have it protected from day 1. I have been looking at the maccase premium sleeve/bag combo, booq bags systems, and the mambo combos from waterfield. I looked at tom bihn but I dont like the style so much. If I have to throw in a hundred or so dollars over the 200 mark I dont mind as long as it is good protection. What would you guys suggest? Also I would like it to be able to carry a textbook or 2 since I am still going to classes to further my career. I have read some reviews and did numerous searches just need some extra advice. Thanks in advance.

I purchased the Boa.XM[system] with Vyper M2 from Booqbags.com. It works and looks great!! And it definitely has room for a couple textbooks. If you're not into backpacks, the Folee is a great messenger bag, but my accessories seem to store better in the Boa then they did in the Folee.

Check out some of the other threads in the Apple Forum on this topic:

    A Search for Sleeve
    A Search for Case

I have the Slim Computer Brief by Briggs & Riley that I really like. It actually has a protective sleeve inside that easily detaches. There's room for a textbook too. High quality, good warranty. Definitely check out their collection.

I think you're safe asking it here, as those who know it best (the MBP users) would be more likely to see this here than over at the Accessories forum :).

Yah that boa system looks nice but I read a few reviews about some messed up zippers. I have yet to read anything bad about waterfield but too many options to choose from not sure if I like the cozmo, cargo, or vertigo. Although the vertigo seems a bit small for my needs. The maccase is nice but seems a lil on the fem side no offense to anyone. I am scared and excited to get my mbp cant wait to have it all together. Any other suggestions would be nice as well.

Yes, it is expensive, but there is nothing bulky about this bag. The sleeve slides into the notebook compartment with plenty of room to spare. I would actually consider this to be a small backpack in general.

So ok I narrowed it down to the booq backpack systems. Just not sure whether or not to get the python or boa. The boa looks less obtrusive but that python just looks so gadget friendly. Also some of their systems are on backorder do you think they would send me the sleeve first till the other parts are ready so my mbp doesnt go naked for too long. I have 2 kids and they are evil. Thanks for all the replys.

Yes, I had the same dilemma. I went with the Boa since newer is typically better, and it did have the "bag of the year" endorsement. I have been very happy with it so far. I am continually surprised with how much I can fit into it.

I've ordered two bag [systems] from booq over the years, and both times the orders were shipped in their entirety, so I have no idea what their policy is for backorders.

I have a 3-year-old at home. Shortly after receiving my MBP I was sitting on the couch tinkering around with the new Mac experience, and my daughter started climbing all over me. I remember saying, "If you BREAK my computer, I will BREAK you!" She slowly got off of me, and now, whenever I am using my notebook on the couch, she reminds me of that outstanding threat that was made. In her cute 3-year-old girl voice, "i break computer, you break me. hehe." This level of cuteness is simply irresistible to a daddy, so I then toss my notebook aside and proceed to tickle and snuggle my little girl.

So, yes, kids are evil... but they can be harnessed with empty daddy threats.

Thanks sagebrush I think you just sold me on the boa system. I'll order that as soon as I get the funds from the insurance. Looks pretty damn sweet.

    Thanks,

I ordered the boa system and got 10percent off cause I found an online coupon in a review I was reading. The coupon was loop2006 if anyone is interested in ordering. Thanks again for the help.

Just wanted to let you guys know that booq is awesome I called up explaining to them how the system is on backorder but the sleeve is available now so they are seperating the system for me and sending the sleeve immediately. All I have to pay is a couple dollars more for shipping which is no problem. Just wanted to share that they were really nice about it. The even knew who I was when I called up and spoke about the case I was dealing with heh. Thanks again everyone.
