Are there any detrimental effects to my battery if I leave my MBP connected to the power practically all the time? The only time it leaves my desk is if I take it somewhere, which is pretty rare until school starts. I'm wondering if I can leave the power connected at all times, even when it's off, or if I should unplug and drain the battery from time to time, or if I should just only connect the power when the battery is about to die.

NONONO.. power it at all times, if u can, batterys die because they go through charge cycles, while its good to compleate a whole cycle when ur using a battery if u dont have to dont use your battery and just use ac,

using batterys and heat are what kill them, my last laptop i used ALOT and in diffrent temps, hot and cold, anyways that battery is 1 year old and at 52%,

if it's not critical work you are doing, it helps to remove the battery completely. even plugged in the battery still cycles through a small percentage of charge and discharge, plus since it is constantly cycling it gets hot - all bad things.

but, if you lose power for any reason you will lose anything that wasn't saved to the hd.

just be careful with your power connector if you choose to remove the battery like posted above, the Mag connection is pretty well connected, but if bumped at the right angle it will pop out extremely easy.
