    1) How durable is the macbook air? could it take any sort of punishment on the road.

    2) what are the specs in the current models?

    3) if the battery dies or you have RAM/HD problems how do you fix it?

The only way to get into the current MBA models is with a 5-point Security Torx screwdriver (they don't use the std Torx T5s anymore). Given the screwdriver access change, it is highly unlikely that Apple will sell the MBA batteries at retail.

For all RAM, SSD (these are custom blade variants) and battery issues you will have to return to Apple for repair. This model is most definitely not friendly in the user-maintenance dept.

If anybody has it, it is kind of weak in terms of specs - what can you do on it?

Not really, 1.4GHz core 2 Duo, 4GB DDR3, SSD, and an Nvidia 320m. Pretty decent IMO. You can o everything except for, mid level and up: gaming, video editing.

Same as the MBP 13 but slower CPU really.
