Running Diablo II under Leopard in an open game I have the ports open on my router so I have no issues with that. It works fine without the firewall. With the firewall on it will not work for an open game.

I have the mac firewall set to allow access for specific applications and have diablo II added to that list. It still does not work. I turn the firewall off and it works just fine.

So I need to find a 3rd party firewall that is more configurable.

just turn it off, and save money and computer resources, as the firewall is most likely not going to do anything 99% of the time. if not 100%.

I'd rather not have it off when I have client's personal information on it so that is not an option. Surely macs have something as simple as a firewall where you can control ports on them somewhere.

I could boot into xp, but that should be unnecessary for something this easy. If it's doing it with an old program such as Diablo II I'm going to have even more issues with it as I use more programs that require more ports.

    Check out Little Snitch.

It's a REALLY good firewall program for OSX, and it should have more then enough feature that you need.

Looks like the main website is down though atm, but you can get a trial from macupdate, etc.

I second Little Snitch. Very effective, lightweight and overall just great.

But then again why would you need a firewall in the first place? :D

I also have question about accuracy of OSX firewall? Is it good like commercial windows firewalls ? Or do I want to install 3rd party firewall?

The windows one sucks as far as business goes as well. Without a good software firewall using wifi and connecting to different business internet or while your in a hotel is just not safe.

But having one that is not customizable for ports is next to useless for myself. I use Comodo in windows

It says Little Snitch doesn't stop any incoming traffic? Is there no good firewalls for the macs?

This is not looking hopeful for them for my needs. I haven't even tried setting my VPN up through my office yet.

that is a legitimate reason I suppose, I would just turn it off when playing Diablo, unless that is your clients information, ^_^

I may even make you an applescript app or toolbar button that will do that in one click.
