how to enable the Graphix card in Parallels?

whenever i start the WinXp, windows asks me for the Video card drivers. and that i can't play 3d games.

i guess Parallels made this version to enable the full use of the Graphix card.

    "Graphics"

Under Video Settings in the Virtual Machine preferences there's a check-box to enable directX.

    yeah i know it's Graphics.

but that didn't solve the problem. the "VGA Controller" isn't installed, i don't know what does that mean.

i guess WinXp thinks i only got a standard VGA card instead of 128MB X1600

Download the Parallels manual. Try pages 111 and 165, 166.

Also, after you do all that Go Start -> Run -> and type "dxdiag"

Then go to the Video Tab and see if DirectX is present or not at the bottom left corner.

there is no video tab. there's "display" tab.

but there's no "3d accelator" recognised by windows.

i can't find a website to download the drivers.

    1. Make sure Parallels Tools is installed in Windows. There's a Parallels menu option for it if it isn't done automatically.

    2. You want the video settings in the Parallels virtual machine settings, not in Windows. There's a checkbox there that you have to check.

    3. (just fyi) Go in with low expectations. It's a modified version of Wine. You've got partial DirectX 8 compatibility, not complete DirectX 9 compatibility.

    Good luck. ;)

    the Direct X is checked

the problem is that Windows can't identify the Radeon X1600. and i can't find the drivers online.

i don't know how to have "parallels tools" installed in windows.

i downloaded "omega driver" for Radeon X1600, but it didn't work. the installing programme freezes in the middle of the installation.

ah. Windows won't recognize the card as a Radeon x1600. It'll just see whatever Parallels shows it. On my Macbook (with a gma950) it shows up as simply "Parallels Video Driver" in the device manager. If parallels tools isn't installed, that's almost certainly your problem. Go to Actions -> Install Parallels Tools.
