Everyone loves the iPhone... or at least I do. Now it gets even better. The AT&T CEO, Randall Stephenson, made an unofficial revelation recently that the iPhone would get 3G capability "next year." However, the newly revamped iPhone will probably not be available until later in the year.

You can read the entire story on Ars Technica: AT&T boss: 3G-capable iPhone in 2008.

What I found interesting is AT&T's CEO made a confirmation about it :p.

Anyways, this is good news, for sure. Hopefully they can keep battery life good though. That was one of reasons Apple stated as to why they didn't want to put 3G on the current iPhone.

    iPhone Nano please! ;)

This is kinda old news. Jobs has already said there would be a 3G iPhone next year. It is inevitable, but no one has any idea when next year. my guess would be in the second half.

Oh, and my prediction on whether an announcement will happen at Macworld? If you ask me, probably not. Macworld's mention of the iPhone will probably center around the announcement of the SDK and what it can do. I don't think Apple will go into detail, as Macworld isn't attended by developers like WWDC, but I think there will be mention on the SDK at Macworld.

Let's hope Macworld has more Mac news this time around :p.

CES would be an opportune time, even though you don't see Apple making announcements there (at all, as far as I remember). But it's more of a tech-oriented show with many other phone manufacturers present, and would be optimal if you ask me.

Apple doesn't even show up at CES, I think...I remember last year at Macworld (which happened right around CES), so many tech reporters were at CES, and then the iPhone was announced and everyone was scrambling to get to San Francisco to report on it :D.

The iPhone is awesome! I don't care about 3G though, the fastest we have here is evdo and edge, so meh @ 3g. I saw the iPhone at a shop today, it made me wet, so basically I'm not going to buy a sony ericsson w580 that I was planning on getting later this week, I'm just gonna get the damn iPhone and skip the iPod touch, they already had it unlocked with 1.1.1 firmware at the store so I'll be good to go. I'll be sure to post pics of it next to my macbook when i get it :p

Regarding the MacWorld, what are your predictions? New Pro line? MBP and MP with Pentryn? New iWork?

I don't think they will update iWork, since they just updated it last august, at most there might be an unannounced automatic update. The rest I'm not so sure. I'm hoping to see what apple would do with an ultraportable, but that would really make me torn since I want to give my macbook for my family to use and get a macbook pro for myself, but an ultraportable would be so tempting I wouldn't know what to get...

EVDO.... about 10x faster than EDGE. (Sprint/Verizon).

I'll get the iPhone when it does 3G for sure. It's the biggest reason I haven't gotten it yet. (It's also too huge for it's own good, but whatever)

I can't wait! I hope it comes out in the first quarter cuz my birthday is in April, if not, I guess I can wait til May or so to get it...I want to be able to get on iChat (AIM) anywhere with a strong connection so 3G is a huge + for me
