Can someone show me some benchmarks of what would happen if I were to upgrade my 2.0GHz INtel Core 2 Duo white macbook from 1GB to 2GB?

Let's just say it'll be worth the money :p.

I would upgrade to 2 GB of RAM if I could afford shelling out $90 CDN for 2x1 GB .

I don't know if the benchmarks are necessarily the best way to interpret it...I mean, 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo has higher benchmark scores than the 2.0 GHz, but in everyday tasks you wouldn't notice any difference between them.

As for 1 GB RAM vs. 2 GB RAM...like opening Office 2004 for Mac takes my 1 GB RAM MacBook about 15 seconds to open up...according to several members it takes about 6-7 seconds on 2 GB RAM. Opening applications are faster, using Cover Flow on iTunes doesn't lag (it lags quite a lot on 1 GB RAM). Definitely worth the investment.

If you're interested at all in running Parallels or VMWare, then the upgrade to 2GB is also more than worth it as your machine will have enough RAM for both operating systems.
