Im about to purchase a OCZ Vertex 250GB SSD for my 2010 MBP 13".
I hope to increase speed and battery life while reduce temperature.

I chose this over the Intel drives as i wanted the extra space - especially since its the only drive in my system - and it seems better value for money.

Before I purchase, should this drive work OK with my MBP?
Any special things to note? I'll be creating a SuperDuper image of my current drive, then restore the image once the new SSD is installed, since I only re-installed my system about a month ago, so its still pretty 'clean'.

Any other recommended software/procedures to keep my SSD in good form?

I'd suggest getting a Vertex 2 240GB. It's faster and a bit more power efficient.

Also I'd recommend doing a clean install. This way you'll ensure that the drivers are loaded correctly from the start.

    I'll check that out, thanks!

Ive also just notice there is a Vertex EX drive as well - which is SLC.....

    2.5" SATA II OCZ Technology

So is SLC better then MLC?

I'm not sure about the EX series, you can probably find some reviews.

Vertex LE, Vertex 2 and Agility 2 come with Sandforce controllers, while the others come with Indilinx controller.

Sandforce is the fastest controller at the moment.

SLC is definitely better than MLC but also much more expensive.

In that case, I may go for this:

OCZ Vertex 2 SATA II 2.5" SSD OCZ Technology

Price is not much more then the standard Vertex I was initially looking at.
It seems the 240GB is the one to go for (which is the size I was looking at anyway), since the larger sizes seem to be a little slower?!
