Wondering if anyone has heard any rumors, or has any thoughts on whether Apple will provide a boost to the graphics card in the 2015 rMBP. I personally prefer to use my rMBP for both work and gaming, but the 750M is lackluster for gaming, to say the least - especially compared with the new 900M series that's out right now. While I don't expect Apple to pop for the 980M, would be nice if it perhaps got one of the lower end cards in the 900M series, maybe one of the newer ones rumored to come out soon like the 950 or 960M. Just wondering what everyone is hearing.

If I'm not mistaken the TDP on the 960m is 25w higher than the TDP on the 750m. That makes the 960m highly improbable.

I think that both ATI and nVidia are still stuck on higher process geometries and are waiting for 14/16 nm slots at the foundries for better performance/power.

    As per usual Apple way.

950M, 512mb gimped and 1gb bare minimum vRAM model.

But the current 15" Retina has a 750M with 2GB vRAM and has had such for a year.

I was sorta hoping for the 850M to be included in last years Pro, or even 840M.

To be honest, I'd be fine if they bumped it up to the 800m series this year even. Personally, I don't need the real heavy duty cards as my work and gaming don't call for it. But for what I do use, the 850 would be great. Would like to see at least 4gb of vRAM though. We'll see if there are any announcements at their event later this week.

Apple doesn't tend to update their stuff just because one new part came out, particularly because they just did an 'update' late last year (tho it was meager). They will likely overhaul the innards for the next Intel CPUs.
