My 2013 Retina Pro was doing just great. My friend just came over and was gaga over it just a few days. Seems like some sort of curse went into effect after he left though. Out of the complete blue, my MBP has slowed down drastically, takes almost three minutes to boot up. The beach ball is all over the place! Tried safe mode boot and repairing disk permissions as suggested by Apple care.

No effect. Still slow as molasses. Getting really frustrated. It is practically unusable now.

Anybody have any suggestions. Please help!

Surprised to see no replies guys. Anyways, been doing some serious digging and finally found a solution. It is called an SMC reset. Worked wonders. MacBook is back to normal now. Really happy! :hi2:

Anybody interested in learning how to do an SMC reset, refer here - Macbook Pro Running Slow? Here's How To Fix It! - Mach Machines

LOL, you were fast on finding that, yes it is a VERY common issue on some models and even depending on what you are doing. resetting the PRAM and SMC tricks handy are a good idea.

Well, considering you had only posted one hour prior to making the post I'm quoting, that shouldn't come as a surprise. It is generally considered proper forum etiquette to wait at least 24 hours for people to reply, unless you have found a solution as you did.
