When my 2012 macbook pro comes in, it will come with Bootcamp 4.0 and lion.

Should I hold off setting up bootcamp until mountain lion is released? What is the 5.0 bootcamp suppose to bring to the table?

    Thanks!

It will come with Lion pre-installed meaning you will be locked into using Windows 7 since Lion comes with Bootcamp 4. About the only thing Mountain Lion will bring is Windows 8 compatibility but Apple will likely come out with an update to Bootcamp for Lion as well. I'm not sure what an updated version of Bootcamp is supped to bring. Like I said, about the only thing I can think of is Windows 8 compatibility.

I hope you didn't buy that notebook just to run Windows.

Nope. Just for 2 games that do not have osx versions. I use a 27" imac also. Also have an ipad, iphone, apple tv, etc. :)

Why not? If I decide to get the MBPR I certainly won't be using it just to run Windows (although 90% of my gaming will be done in Bootcamp) but what would be the disadvantages of doing so? Is it anything besides the trackpad and GPU?

you can run windows 8 with the current version of bootcamp, it install everything fine, the only issue that it comes with it is the delay on the brightness settings and kb backlighting, it works, put you press the buttons and there is a slight delay of 1-2s for it to work.

aside the ones you and I listed, none.

and the trackpad aint horrible, its just that it isnt the same experience as in OSX, it works like any touchpad out there, in other words for mac users, terrible.

I should have said that you are officially locked into using Windows 7. Windows 8 might work but, according to the Boot Camp (just found out Apple spells it with two words instead of one, go figure) documentation, only Windows 7 is officially supported. That might cause some issues with the new MBP. Seeing as I don't own one and won't be buying a new MBP, I won't be able to test it for possible bugs.

On a side note, there is a long discussion in another thread regarding why people should not buy a new MBP just to run Windows. The same arguments are being used as when others asked about buying the older styled MBPs and MBAs just to run Windows. Feel free to read through that thread for further explanation as to why it is a bad idea to run Windows the majority of the time on Apple hardware.

Has anyone seen bootcamp 5.0 beta to see if the fan response is any better?
