On Apple's site there is an option for a hi-res LCD panel that is 1680x1050 from the original 1280x800 LCD. Does anyone know the model number of it? It's the same panel that was used in the Late 2009-2010 models but I can't find the model number of the panel that is actually 1680x1050, most are the smaller res. Thanks!

    No.

1280x800 is for the 13" MBP.
1680x1050 is for the 15" MBP as an upgrade.
Standard for the 15" is 1440x900.
1680 is only available on 2010 and 2011.
2009 only offers anti-glare, NOT high res.

In short, you want 2010 or 2011 MBP 15" only. Exact model numbers are on MBP wikipedia.

On an unrelated note, what are the laptops with decent screens out on the market right now anyway (i.e. matte RGB LED backlit 10bit IPS screens)?

Any why hasn't Apple put them into the MBP yet :p

    @sugar

Late 2009-2011 use the same panels, you are thinking of the Mid-2009, they revised it at the end of the year, Mid-2009 Keyboard/trackpad and lcd panel are different than the Late 2009-2011

Was given misinformation, but in the end it doesn't matter....

I still need the part number of the LCD :)

I didn't see the panel models in the website, although I suppose I could x-reference the old MBP model numbers, unless you have an easier way.

EDIT: Must have been related to what I read about the CCFL versus LED, some systems used CCFL still in the late 09 models before they switched to LED.

Hmm. You insist on spreading misinformation and that's my fault? Even in the face of facts, you cling to your irrationality. I admit, I've been less than cordial. That's no excuse for you insisting on spreading your ignorance.

Do you know why no one has come up with the magical LCD you're talking about?

    BECAUSE IT DOESN'T _ X _ S T .

I read what you wrote. You didn't write "I" and that changes the entire meaning of the sentence genius. What's irritating is that I laid out the facts for you in the SECOND POST. I misread your last post, because you weren't man enough to include the friggin "I" which wouldn't have even amounted to an apology anyway.

Ok people, keep it civil and on topic. If you want to discuss this further do so by PM. If there is any problem PM me but I don't really want to hear it.

Any more comments in thread ON TOPIC only please. The original topic about the part number for the high res screen still has not been answered. It is different from the model number of the Macbook Pro it came with.

I found the P/N but lost it, saved it on another computer, only issue is finding someone to install it with a clean room. Found a guy that wants $100 which isnt TOO bad but the cost of the panel is about $175.
