I was wondering if anyone could provide any input on whether there is an excessive fan noise on a white macbook running windows xp.

Are you having this problem, or asking in advance?

The power management profiles that OSX uses do not seem to apply to XP/Vista if you're running in Bootcamp, thus the system is going to get hotter and require faster rpm to manage those temps. In my experience, the fans generally get noticeable once you top 2700-3000rpm, but whether that is annoying depends on your sensitivity to the sound :).

running with 3400 rpm doesn't bother me. If apple released better drivers for windows, it would be better.

I really don't hear the fans rev up in Windows at all while not gaming, but they'll turn up if it gets too toasty in there. Like ClearSkies said, it is always hot in Windows. ;) The fans aren't noticable very often.

Yup. Btw, a new version of bootcamp will also be released along with osx 10.6. Let's hope they supply updated driver for vista.
