So you switched from an Asus g60VX which is a dedicated gaming laptop, to a macbook for some casual gaming? The games you listed are medium to high end. I'd steer clear. The 2008 Macbook has heating problems, whereas the newer ones don't really have that problem anymore. Stick with your laptop.

The old ones did not have a very good cooling system.

plus the gpu is faulty and will die at a certain point in time. You'll lose a laptop with better battery life, better build quality, newer model for a dinosaure? No, i dont recommend you do it.

heck no... the older one isn't that great and the 8600s are notorious for dying and killing your whole computer.

I would not buy the 2008 model. I just replaced my sons 2008 MBP - he complained of excessive heat, it had one motherboard replaced and it has had several Superdrive problems - I think moving it to the side was partially to deal with some of the pressure issues on the front. He really likes his new MBP better than the old one. The old one is just a spare in the house now. I think that I'd have a tough time selling it as the Superdrive is dead and it's a $350 repair item which is close to the wholesale value of the machine.

:p How much are you selling it for? I dont even use the Superdrive so I wouldn't mind taking the skin burner off your hands.

Son wants it as a spare at his college apartment. I'm not exactly sure what that means but it's a good enough use.

He could just shove another hard drive in there if he wanted to get some more storage space in the thing. The superdrive isn't working anyway.
