Which processor does the new 2.53Ghz MBP use, the P9500 or the T9400?

I've read from member WilliamG's review of his new MBP that it contains an Intel T9400 instead of an Intel P9500...

Is the T9400 part of new Montevina release? Im kinda messed up in those processor names. Another thing is that the T9400 runs @ 35W vs the P9500 @ 25W. No big deal but there's only a ~$35 difference between the 2.

Yeah, it's part of the Montevina family.

Because they could have given you the higher end processor, especially considering the price.

Technically, Montevina is the chipset platform. The cpu's themselves are all still part of the Penryn family ;). Intel released most of the new 25W P-series in the spring/summer to coincide with the Montevina platform launch.

One of these days, Intel is going to start making sense with all of their name descriptors so we can all stop getting confused. Let's see, that will probably happen right around when the moon falls from the sky......
