I think I've written about resume failures in terms of the display with the 17-inch UB's, post-firmware before. I haven't really found a solution to these problems.

I have also started using a couple of the 17UBMBP's with external (DVI) monitors (2407/8's) and what I've frequently found is that on resume, I get a 'snowstorm' image - what looks like an old TV. I've been noticing that the time between the system being woken, and for this 'snowstorm' to go away has been getting longer and longer as of late. Yesterday, on one machine it was getting onto 3 minutes or so.

Question: Is this a driver issue, some sort of odd obscure DP > DVI issue, or an issue of the GPU itself? I've never seen this whole-screen, random-pixel flickering before with any other machine.

i.e. is it something that can be fixed in software, or is it still a GPU problem? I'm presuming it can't be anything to do with the more well-publicised NVidia problems as it doesn't seem to be a thermally triggered issue.

It's not a 'machine down' situation yet so at the moment it's just slightly irritated idle curiosity: I'll just cycle the machines through warranty as and when they're able to be, but it's yet another one of those never-ending Apple problems. I'm pretty numb these days of the constant visits to Stores and pickups by AppleCare - but I do get really sick of it sometimes.
