Does the new 15-inch MBP-wRD HDMI Full-Size Port support Full HD + AUDIO?

If so, is it 5.1, 7.1, 9.1 or else?

    Thanks for following my thread!

Doesn't look like that the rMBP even comes with HDMI, as per Apple's website:

    Ah, I overlooked that...

Anyway, it doesn't say what version of HDMI it's using, but if it's the latest 2.0 spec, it'd have support for 8 channel audio, so I'd imagine 7.1 audio.

    That's exactly my question.

I eagerly need to know what AUDIO Technologies the 15" rMBP HDMI Port can support!

I hope your prediction is correct!

Well, I'm just taking a guess. It'll be either 2.0 or 1.4, though I don't own any Apple computers, so I'm just reading off the spec sheet, which just says "HDMI".

I really don't think it has HDMI 2.0 especially since the final specs have not been released yet. As of January 2013 (not 2012 but 2013!), a committee was still deciding on what to implement in HDMI 2.0. It might be using some early version of HDMI 2.0 but it definitely isn't the final edition. That being said, I can confirm that the RMBP's HDMI port is capable of outputting 5.1 audio. My receiver shows it being capable of 7.1 audio, same as my MacBook Air. I haven't been able to test lossless 5.1 and 7.1 audio output on either though.

Thanks a million for your answer!!!

By the way, do you have a 5.1 or 7.1 Home Theater?
If so, have you tested your Mac delivering that 5.1 or 7.1 Audio Signal?

I have a 7.1 capable receiver but a 5.1 speaker setup. My receiver "downscales" all 7.1 audio to 5.1 for my setup. That being said, I have only ever tested 5.1 lossy (Dolby Digital and DTS) audio with both my MacBook Air and my girlfriend's RMBP. All my sources of lossless 5.1 and 7.1 audio are Blu-ray discs. I do not have 5.1 or 7.1 lossless audio files on either Mac. My receiver is capable of fully decoding Dolby TruHD, DTS-HD MA, and LPCM multi-channel audio.
