    Just noticed this tonight.

    Have Matte HD screen.

Notebook was purchased on release, but has been in case/sleeves the entire time when not on desk.

Anyone else have this problem? Should I bring it back to Apple?

Also, it's very noticeable during movies and on my desktop with a dark wallpaper.

Bring/Send it to Apple for them to replace your screen. Good luck.

Yeah thanks, living in NYC has advantages, I'll stop into the 24 hour store tomorrow.

Just sucks because I spent $2k+ and this is the second one i've had to bring back.... Last time they were nice enough to replace it in the store, though I was within 14 days.

1st Apple purchase, 2nd return so far. :(

send it back. light bleed is common on LCD laptop displays, but too much is too much.

I stopped into the apple store and they didn't have the part in stock, but printed out a replacement order (free) and said they'd call me when it gets in.

The tech told me that it could take less than an hour or longer depending on the queue. -wonder how much I'll end up spending in soho in "less than an hour" lol.

He told me that the light bleed was due to the screen's layers not being attached as well as they should be, and when I told him it gets worse when the laptop heats up, he nodded as if he knew exactly what I meant.

I'm 80% happy, and will be 100% satisfied when I get it replaced.

well it'll always get worse as it heats up. that's because some of the excess heat blowing out of the front of the laptop goes UP instead of DOWN. the heat that is getting blown up hits the bottom of the display, which causes the "whitening" of those areas. it's no coincidence that the lightest areas are right above where the fans are sitting on the mobo. :)

just so that you don't worry in the future.

    thanks for another snobby post..

LCD bleed is caused by an improper seal which can be exacerbated by heat. It's something that can show up due to bad luck or bad QC.

LCD bleed on a new Macbook Pro is something to worry about and is cause for a replacement screen panel.

And yes, heat does go "UP".
