I know this has been asked a bajillion times, but... I think I've decided to go ahead and order the MacBook tomorrow night. Cause it doesnt seem like Apple plans on updating it anytime soon, and if say they did update it this week, like Tuesday or Wednesday, I would get the new one anyways? But if they updated within 14days of receiving the MB, I can just send it back and order a new one right? So I guess my actual question is, order it. or wait.

Apple automatically updates your stuff to the newest if its within a certain time frame of a update or something, so no worries there.

Plus most believe that MBP will have C2D before MB does, because its just how Apple always worked, they even did this with PowerPCs. If there was to be an update BEFORE the next MacWorld, it'd mostly probably be in November, I wouldn't expect one at all in October, or even in November even know I said there might be.

Best bet is next MacWorld for sure we'll have one.

If it is within 14 days, and you have already received your MB, they are supposed to charge a restocking fee, unless there is a defect. If it has yet to ship and they are updated, usually you will receive the updated version. However, they have no obligation to send the updated one.

Yeah. So I don't think I would get any more use out of C2D than i would CD so I think I'll order it. If they update, oh well. But I don't think the update for the MB will be anytime soon.

All I plan on using it for is like internet, notes, IM stuff, and iTunes. Nothing that would really benefit from C2D.

    You won't be disappointed.

Like one of my college instructors always says "by the time you purchase your notebook, it's already boat anchor" implying that technology updates so fast its just a hassle always trying for the very latest.

The whole point I got MB (I should say one of the reasons) was because it was Dual core, as long as it was dual core I was happy, Yonah core is technically a 64bit processor, it's just disabled. The only advantage of Merom is 64bit not the 10% increase, I think in this day and age most people could care less for that small bit, because you're computer is only as fast as its slowest component. Cashmonee had an excellent arguement he just recently posted about 64bit vs 32bit.

Anyways, go for it, because really in the end you're not gonna be disappointed. ;)

    Cheers.

Hey, if you got the MB and the updated it within 14 days... and won't upgrade yours, you could always return it and then buy it again.

    :)

    It's a great notebook though!

You will love it! And the G.Skill RAM comes highly recommended from several members here who use it.
