Yes, definitely. $250 for a working Powerbook G4 is a great price. Make sure to check its condition and if everything is working :).

It has airport and superdrive with the dvd burner. Its pretty dirty (cleanable) and I think the hard drive needs to be replaced. The frame is a little iffy. I mean its ok but it seems like he didnt care for it that much. I need to make a choice soon. He wont hold it for me this long.

    Its my first mac

Yes, great deal! Clean it, replace the HDD. It will STILL be a steal! Is this a local pickup? If not... I would make sure he is a respectable seller...

I have been looking for a good portable mac after the disappointment of the MBA. Prices range around 700 - 800 for a good 12" powerbook g4.

I got it. Its 867mhz and im going to upgrade the ram to 1GB and put on Leopard. This is my first mac so it seems exciting. I replaced the hard drive but it wasnt so easy.

Actually Im pretty happy because on ebay, if its broken it usually goes for $350+

I got this on criagslist, I guess the guy didnt know what it was worth.

You should probably install Tiger instead of Leopard. You may want to even go farther back than that.

Congratulations on the new Mac though, that was a GREAT price.

When Leopard was released, a number of people reported that their PowerPC macs were running faster than they were with Tiger.

??????? you care to tell us why?

those machines shipped with Tiger and should have no problems at all running Leopard.

If you want to do it, go ahead. I know that my friend complained that his computer felt slower after he installed leopard on his Macbook. Go ahead and try it though.
