I just spent 3 (or so) hours re-installing everything on my system. Last night I ran software update and left it sit to install while I went to go to the bathroom and take out my contacts. I came back about 10 minutes later figuring it would be restarted and everything. But, it was just sitting there showing the desktop. So I knew it couldnt have restarted because I have to type in my password so I ran system update again and found out it hadnt installed anything. So then I ran it and watched it, said it was done, yet wouldnt restart. So I tried restarting it manually, no good; tried turning it off, no good. So then I just forced it off and turned it back on hoping for the best. Not the case. I get the set up your new mac window and by that time I didnt have time to fuss with it so i just turned it off and went to sleep. Got back from snow tubing today and popped in the leopard re-install dvd. Reformatted my drive, and installed leopard. Then got to the last step and told it to restore everything from the time machin backup. That went fine until it was like 1% left andthen it told me there was an error and it couldnt copy the files. So I just booted up anyway, only to find that the space on my drive had been taken up, so it did copy the stuff, I just couldnt see it anywhere. So by then I was gettin impacient and booted off the leopard dvd. I went to re-format the drive and start over again, only to see an option that I had missed b4- restore from Time Machine backup. Thought that sounded like a good idea and that I could skip a few steps, so I tried that, and after however long it took it restored everything fine. Now I'm back to how I had it but it screwed my afternoon. Anybody have any ideas to what went wrong?

9% installing got the "you need to restart" message, so i did then it poped straight back up, had to reformat just to have it happen again.. so Osx 10.5.1 for me then

Havent a clue on what could have happened. I've had nothing but smooth sailing on my upgrades on 2 personal machines, and about 5 in our environment at work.

2 MBs here with .2 on them. One 2.2ghz and one CD 1.83.

both updated flawlessly. I recommend the update.

a note, i DLed the combo update from their site. It was easier than DLing it on two machines.

Not everyones computer updates the same. For example when i updated my sisters computer for her to windows xp sp3 it worked fine for her but some people have been having sound issues i heard from the speakers. So really its anyones guess as to what will or wont go wrong with there system.
