I need (free is better, but paid versions ok too) a program that can make .iso's of legally owned software as well as a program that can be used for mounting them. I don't know much about macs, so your expert help is appreciated!

If it has that functionality built into it then could you elaborate? We got a lot of macs recently at work and none of us in tech use them and are working hard to learn fast.

I just need anything that will convert a cd to a .iso and then a way to mount it. I remember linux can mount .iso's in the terminal, does osx have something similar?

edit: further, basically the kids software would be much easier to install remotely. If we could push it all that way it would be great. Thats why we need the iso's.

OSX will mount isos if you just doulbe click on them.

An iso made in windows, will be able to mount in osx, though the content on it may not be made for osx.

Also if you rename a .dmg to .iso, it should be the same thing.

But as masterchef said, disk utility should be able to make .dmg's of cds, or you could copy and paste the conents of cd into a dmg.

ok cool, i think ive got it. hopefully none of the software have copy protection built into them preventing the creation of the images...otherwise i will be touching each of them one at a time with the cd...
