One of my college textbook comes with a CD. Every file on the CD is un-openable on my computer but the CD does say that it is compatible with mac's.
(or "autorun.inf" or "u1b1.dxr" or "conjugaison.cxt" for that matter.)
Is there any way I can open
.exe,
.inf,
.dxr, and/or
.cxt files?
I have a Macbook running on Tiger v10.4.11

Not sure on other files, but .exe files are not compatible with OS X. Your best bet would be using parallels or vm ware or bootcamp. If those aren't viable options for you, try borrowing a friend's PC for a few hours.

Only options are:
Bootcamp - install windows and use it in there
Vmware/parallels - install virtual windows and use it in there
Crossover/WINE - buy crossover, or download wine and see if you can set it up and install it within OSX
So you got a few options, the most harmless one and free-est one would be to try winee, and see if you can get it to work in that. Otherwise its crossover, vmware, or a full bootcamp install.
Not all publishers make mac versions of their software, though it would be nice if they did. -
Thank you both!

I doubt it'll work, but you could try to run the program from terminal.
Are you sure there's not a separate folder somewhere for OS X? Do a search for .app or .dmg and see if anything comes up. -

If the cd says it'll work with macs, then you should take it up with the tech dept. at your school before you shell out the $ to pay for windows.
