I'm kinda liking the whole dotmac trial i'm on.

Does anyone have any personal opinions? I could spend my apple (iPhone) credit on it.

I like the (really) easy web hosting and we galleries. The email i likely won't use much.

The syncing seems pretty handy (bookmarks, and what not).

    Any recommendations?

I've only been using .Mac for a couple days now...

The feature I have used so far is the iDisk. It mounts itself just like another network drive. This is great for passing files between my Mac Pro at the studio, and my MacBook Pro at home.

Its a good service. For just pure ease of use. I have my own webserver, but its just easy to backup too, to upload pictures too etc etc

.Mac is a good service. It does its job really well, albeit its still a little pricey though. But if you divide that $100 a year up, that's only about $8 a month, so not that bad.

If you like its features, then go for it!

I am also on a .mac trial and i am really considering upgrading, it's so easy to upload pictures to the web gallery, iDisk is great, as well as syncing bookmarks and all that other crap. imap email is also a nice bonus. $99 is a bit much, but like sam said, it's only $8 a month when you think about it.

I have been on .Mac since before when it was called iTools and it was free. Loved it so much I have willing to pay the annual subscription. There are plenty of ways of getting it cheaper than what Apple charges. Resellers offer it cheaper.
The best part about .Mac for me will be on Oct. 26th. When I install Leopard I am doing a full erase and install and I could care less that all my contacts in my address book and emails get erased because with .Mac they will automatically download back to my computer after Leopard is installed when I connect to the web. That feature sold me long ago.

I can't count how many times years ago when I needed to reformat my Windows PC when it was giving me troubles (which was always) and I had to write down all of my contacts before erasing the computer and I had to type them back into my PC, what a hassle.
Another good part of .Mac for me has been the ability to have a local copy of iDisk on my desktop. All my stored info on .Mac is my desktop even when I am not connected to the internet as my ISP sometimes goes on a lunch break. That feature is killer for laptops on the go.
Just my 2 cents. I think .Mac is worth it but it offers much more for with the iLife suite.
